This paper is concerned with an Initial Boundary Value Problem (IBVP) for a strongly coupled semilinear reaction-diffusion system. By using the upper and lower solutions method and Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem and so on, the authors prove the global eaistence and uniqueness of a smooth solution for this IBVP under some appropriate conditions.

Recently, Gilbert and Nocedal^[3] investigated global convergence of conjugate gradient methods related to Polak-Ribiere formular, they restricted β_K to non-negative value.[5] discussed the same problem as that in[3] and relaxed oh to be negative with the objective function being convex. This paper allows β_K to be selected in a wider range than[5]. Especially, the global convergence of the corresponding algorithm without sufficient decrease condition is proved.

In this paper, it is considered that the global existence, uniqueness and regularity results for the Cauchy problem of the well-known Kuramoto-Stvashinsky equation
u_t+1/2▽(|u|²)+△u+△²u=0,t>0,x∈R^N, u(0,x)=u₀(x),x∈R^N.
only under the condition u₀(x) ∈L²(R^N, Rⁿ). Where u(t, x)=(u₁ (t, x),…,u_n (t, x))^T is the unknown vector-valued function. Results show that for N < 6,u₀ (x) ∈L² (R^N, Rⁿ), the above Cauchy problem admits a unique global solution u(t, z) which belongs to C^∞,∞ (R^N×(0, ∞)).

It is considered that the Tikhonov regularization with closed operators for solving linear OPerator equations of the first kind in the presence of perturbed operators. A class of the regularization parameter choice strategies that lead to optimal convergence rates are proposed.

The Riemann problem for a two-dimensional 2×2 nonstrictly hyperbolic system of nonlinear conservaion laws has been solved thoroughly for any gived initial data which are constant in each quadrant. The non-classical shock waves, which are labelled as δ-shock waves, appear in some solutions. The solutions have been obtained are hot unique. Due to the specific property of the system considered, there are no rarefaction waves in solution.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part constructs Riemann solutions for initial data involving two contact discontinuities while the second considers the case for other initial data. The last part briefly discusses the non-uniqueness of the solutions.

By defined holomorphic n-times integrated mild C-existence families and C-semigroups, their relationship with holomorphic mild C₁-exustence families and holomorphic C₁ -semigroups is discussed, respectively. For exponentially bounded cases, this paper gives several Hille-Yosida type conditions for an operator to have (or generate) one of these families of operators and generalize the corresponding results in[1],[2] and[3]. These families by the holomorphic solvability of the abstract Cauchy problem is also characterized.

The new classes of L_{F_c}-correspondences and L_{F_c} -majorised correspondences without open lower sections is introduced. Some existence theorems of madximal elements of the L_{F_c} -correspondences and the L_{F_c}-majorized correspondences defined on noncompact set in topological vector spaces are obtained. As applications, some existence theorems of equilibrium points for one-person games, qualitative games and generalized games with the L_{F_c} -majorized correspondences devined on noncompact strategy sets in topological vector spaces are also given. These theorems improve and generalize several known results in recent literature.

This paper deals with oscillatory/nonoscillatory behaviour of solutions of third order nonlinear differential equations of the form

where a,b,c ∈ C([σ,∞),R) such that a(t) does not change sign, b(t) ≤ 0, c(t) > 0,f∈C(R, R) such that (f(y)/y) ≥ β > 0 for y ≠ 0 and γ > 0 is a quotient of odd integers.It has been shown, under certain conditions on coefficient functions, that a solution of (1) and (2) which Las a zero is oscillatory and the nonoscillatory solutions of these equations tend to zero as t → ∞. The motivation for this work came from the observation that the equation

where a, b, c are constants such that b ≤ 0, c > 0, has an oscillatory solution if
(2a³)/27-ab/3+c-2/3γ3(a²/3-b)^3/2>0
and only ifand all nonoscillatory solutions of (3) tend to zero if and only if the equation has an oscillatory solution.
